July 2026 NACR Quarterly Report on Completion of Core CR
Method: Run using July 2026 data download of Jan-Mar 2026. Patient records were included if they had completed Core1 Rehab within the time period and there was sufficient data - more than 10 core rehab records created - within the named programme. Data is reported at programme level based on where patient attended Core CR.
Results: This report shows to what extent patients completing Core CR had Assessments pre- and post-CR recorded. As part of the BACPR Standards and Core Components, alongside National Certification Programme (NCP_CR) KPIs, patients should receive an Assessment before starting their CR programme, and the approved definition of completion requires a discharge Assessment with the CR team to highlight progress and set long term goals. As such recording of Assessments pre- and post-CR should be a priority. There were 176 programmes with patients completing CR during the reporting period. Of these, nine services had insufficient number of patients and were therefore not reported. Of the remaining 167 programmes with available data, 95 programmes had 100% of patients completing CR with an Assessment 1 recorded. Separately, 48 programmes had 100% of patients completing CR with an Assessment 2 recorded. This report shows that across all patients in the period, 97.6% of completers had an Assessment 1 and 91.5% had an Assessment 2. Although this shows an improvement in completion compared to 2016 (i.e. 87.4% Assessment 1 and 74.8% Assessment 2), it still means that 2.4% of patients who completed, started without an Assessment 1, and 8.5% of patients completed without an Assessment 2. The report also shows the extent of patients having both an Assessment 1 and 2 recorded. A total of 39 programme had all patients with both Assessments recorded, 74 had between 90 and 100% but there were 54 programmes that had <90% of their patients completing CR with both pre and post Assessments recorded.
