Cardiac rehabilitation is a simple, inexpensive, low tech treatment that saves lives and adds quality to those years. In the UK the great majority of heart patients are denied a chance to take part.

People who do not take part are 25% more likely to die in the following 2-5 years.

Cardiac rehabilitation is mainly organised by nurses and physiotherapist and lacks a powerful 'champion' to fight for it.

A partnership of patient organisations, health professionals and heart charities are launching a National Campaign for Cardiac Rehabilitation.

The aim of the campaign is modest; it is that cardiac patients should be offered rehabilitation to the standard that has been ordained by the Government in each of the 4 countries of the UK.

The conference will set out the case the Campaign will make and through several debates will set the strategy. We hope that as many cardiac patients as possible will attend. All attendees will receive a copy of the campaign literature. An online National Register with an editable page for every rehab programme in the UK will also be premiered.

We are grateful to Solvay Healthcare for sponsoring this conference through an unrestricted educational grant.
